North American Bible
Correspondence School
The North American Bible Correspondence School has been an active outreach
ministry since 1985. At that time a young Bible worker, Ken LeBrun, had a passion
to share the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ, and His imminent return.
This led him to visit the homes in his community in West Virginia, offering families
the opportunity to study the Bible with him. Through this interaction and study, he
soon realized that his students were asking questions outside the scope of the
lessons that he was using. It became his dream to develop a study course that
would address these relevant questions, with an emphasis on Bible prophecy, and
an urgency to understand what the Bible says about last day events. He began
working on this project, one lesson a week, and soon the These Last Days Bible
study course became a reality.
In the fall of 1986 Ken moved to New Hampshire where he assumed a teaching
position at Mountain Missionary Institute. He continued to be involved with Bible
studies in the community. Some of his studies were conducted with inmates in
local penal institutions. It was also at this time that the correspondence by mail
concept was born, quite by accident. Enrollment cards had been distributed
throughout the community. A display of cards had been placed in a laundromat in
Hillsborough. A returned card identified the responder as Cathy, and gave a post
office box address. After conducting an extensive search for her, with no success,
the first lesson was mailed to the address given. The reason that Cathy was not
known in the community was because she lived in England, and had come to
America to visit a friend. She found the enrollment card at the laundromat,
completed the form and dropped it in the mail. She received her lessons at the post
office box. After completing the course by mail, Cathy accepted Jesus Christ as
her Savior, and was baptized. She was soon sharing her new-found faith with her
family back home in England. It became apparent that this method of study could
be effective in reaching people. The These Last Days Bible Correspondence School
was created.
In 1990 Ken was called to be a pastor in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The school moved
with him. One of the ladies in his congregation, Helen, took over most of the work
of grading returned lessons. Soon lessons were being mailed all over North
America. In 1991 the school changed its name to the North American Bible
Correspondence School. Helen graded lessons until her death, and then her
daughter, Iva, assumed the responsibility and became director of the school in
1996. She coordinated several volunteers who graded lessons.
In October of 2007 the school was moved from Council Bluffs to Kettle Falls in
Northeast Washington, where Ken is serving as pastor of three local area
churches. His passion for Bible prophecy not only manifests itself in the lessons he
has authored, but he has developed a web site, patmospapers.com, where he shares
years of his research on the books of Daniel and Revelation.
In the twenty-one years that the school has existed, literally thousands and
thousands of lessons have been mailed out. It is impossible to know the
far-reaching impact of Ken's simple desire to share his faith. Testimonials from
former students, who found Jesus Christ through these studies, continue to be the
motivating force to the volunteer workers of the school. The school exists to share
the good news that everything that we need to know to survive in these last days
can be found in God's Holy Word.
